Soffits and fascias
The fascia is the board the gutter is fixed to. The soffit is the board underneath the overhang. When timber fascia goes soft, the gutter sags, water sits against the board, and the rot spreads to the rafter ends. What we replace
- Rotten timber fascia, where paint has lifted and the board is soft

Diagnosis
What we check
A new board on rotten rafter ends will not hold. We look at the timber behind the fascia, the gutter fall, and whether water has been overflowing onto the board. Vents in the soffit are kept so the roof space can breathe.
One soft section can be replaced. If several elevations are peeling, soft or split, a full uPVC roofline is the lasting job. uPVC does not rot and does not need painting.
