The method
What softwash roof cleaning is
Softwash is a low-pressure clean with a biocide treatment. It is not a pressure washer. High pressure can crack tiles, strip the surface and push water under the laps into the loft. Softwash kills the moss, algae and lichen at the root so the rain rinses it away over the following weeks. The tiles stay intact.

- Manual moss removal where the growth is thick, so it does not wash into the gutters
- Low-pressure softwash across the whole roof
- Biocide treatment to kill remaining spores and slow regrowth
- Algae and black streak removal
- Lichen treatment on older concrete and clay tiles
- Gutter and downpipe clear after the clean, so the debris does not block them
- Check of the roof while we are up there, so we can tell you if anything else needs attention

Our work
Softwash results
Shaded roofs, north-facing slopes and roofs under trees pick up moss and algae faster. Once the growth is thick it holds moisture against the tiles and can lift them over time. A softwash removes it without the damage a jet wash causes, and the biocide keeps it off longer than a rinse alone.
